Solving Problems
A- Installation Problems
In most instances, files have been copied to the correct directory (C:\SDM7) but Program Groups and Program Items have not been set up. Additionally, the configuration file (WINLOG2.INI) may not have been updated to reflect your configuration.
A1- Did Not Complete Succesfully
From Program Manager -
Click on File pulldown menu
Click on New
Select Group Item, Press
In Description Type "Sport Divers" and Press
The Sport Divers program group will be opened
awolff@seawolff.com
A2 - Path is not Valid (WINLOG2.INI must be modified)
Open Notepad (usually in Accessories Group)
From Notepad
Click on File pulldown menu
Click on Open
In File Box
Type WINLOG2.INI
In Directory box select C:\WINDOWS, Click on OK - The Following Lines will appear:
[Options]
'SystemDB=C:\ACCESS2\system.mda
'UtilityDB=C:\ACCESS2\utility.mda
AllowCustomControls=1
AllowOLE1LinkFormat=0
UtilityDB=C:\WINDIV5\utility.mda
SystemDB=C:\WINDIV5\system.mda
Change the first 2 and last 2 lines to read
'SystemDB=C:\SDM7\system.mda
'UtilityDB=C:\SDM7\utility.mda
AllowCustomControls=1
AllowOLE1LinkFormat=0
UtilityDB=C:\SDM7\utility.mda
SystemDB=C:\SDM7\system.mda
Click on File, Click on Save
Return to the Sport Divers program group and double click on the Sport Diver Icon.
The Sport Divers Program should now work on your Windows 3.1 installation.
B. After Installation
Certain DLLs in our set up may be newer than the DLLs in your system.
1. You receive messages about OLE Registration Failed the first time you load the Sport Divers Software
This message will stop after your first installation. There is no material change to the operation of the software but one graphic will not be displayed. The graphic can be redisplayed if you get the file 31FIX.EXE from our website at http://www.interport.net/~seawolff/SPORT.HTM/, from Sport Divers, or from Sea Wolff Diving.
2. Your Word Processor and other software components have stopped working
Certain DLL files need to be copied from a second Windows 3.1 machine to your Windows\System directory (the files are listed below).
DLLs
OLE2REG.DLL OLE2NLS.DLL OLE2PROX.DLL
STDOLE.TLB STORAGE.DLL OLE2DISP.DLL
